congenital diarrheal disorders

Congenital diarrheal disorders (CDDs) are a group of rare, chronic intestinal disorders occurring in early infancy, characterized by severe, lifelong diarrhea and requiring nutritional intake either parenterally or through a feeding tube. CDDs are inherited enteropathies characterized by heterogeneous etiology, and each type of CDD is thus a different disease with a different pathogenetic mechanism.
